John & Virginia's trip to Washington state
This is our trip to Washington/Canada.  Very nice areas. Basically, what we did was:
In Seattle:

• Went to a festival
• Went up in the space needle
  
• Did the underground tour
• Went to the aquariums
• Went to a fancy restuarant and nice brewpub (a couple of times)

Obligatory shot of the Space Needle.  The elevator also stops at that room near the bottom.

Then on to Preston and Wendy's house in Bellingham:

• Went to three museums -- motorcycles, radio/electricity, and some dogs-in-bellingham thing
• Went to a couple of restuarants there, good dinner and breakfast places
• Went to Mt. Baker, though it did not clear up enough to actually see Mt. Baker
• Went hiking/picnicing
• Saw Wendy's super garden and rigged up a small vine trellace
  

And.. as a wedding present, Wendy bought us ferry tickets for a trip to Victoria Canada.  Unfortunately that was only a small sliver of the trip where we took pictures, but here you go!


The ferry ride was about 3 hours as we threaded through the San Juan islands.  The Boat captain gave us a few interesting historical tidbits along the way..



As you pull into the port, two features stand out.  One is the Empress Hotel.



The other thing is the fact that it's a water-airport.  There were several of these seaplanes whizzing around.



We took a bus tour where they showed us all the shops and fancy houses and stuff, but the best part was where we stopped at a marina and there was Mr. Twiggy!!  He did lose some of his fluff as he swam the 2000 miles..



Inside the Empress Hotel, we stopped at the Bengal room and had a couple of drinks.  Here Virginia poses nicely with a martini.  Buhuhhehhhehehehh!!!



And there was some FRESH local beer too!


MMmm  FRESH BEER!!!



Outside amongst the shops & stuff there was a huge bear..


And a moose!



Then as we returned, a few whales broke the surface.  This is the best shot I got.. (I know, whoop-dee-doo)

All in all a great trip!!!
